 Hi, I'm experiencing similar problems, and already tried several ways to
 cure this (a.o. setting EnableAGPDMA to false in xorg.conf). The only
 thing that works for me is to move away from XvMC completely, then the
 system becomes usable (although it sometimes still freezes for a few
 seconds after seeking, but it starts playing after that).

 I'm also using a via board, mine is a SP8000, so very similar to the
 original poster, my capture card is a Hauppauge PVR 350. I'm running
 Gentoo Linux, with ivtv driver version 0.4.2, mythtv version 0.19_p9163,
 xorg-server 1.0.1-r4 and the OpenChrome drivers latest snapshot (march).
