You don't strictly need libXvMCW if you are only using via XvMC. You can 
replace it with libviaXvMC or libviaXvMCPro depending on your hardware. 
Check out the xine configure options.

It is highly recommended, though. The master is currently in xorg. An 
equivalent standalone still at Unichrome:
