Thanks for the quick reply!
I have updated the xorg.conf (pasted below) with the suggestions you gave
me. Eg i removed the VBEModes option and added the NoDDC option.
I have also updated the openchrome, drm and libdrm to the latest
development versions, dmesg now outputs this error:
