Hmm, I was thinking of this bug:

So this affects only the K8M800, while the VM800/VN800 are okay?  Or 
has Ubuntu maybe patched Mesa in a way that avoids the problem?  Or 
does the problem only occur with Mesa 6.5?  (Dapper is still on 
Mesa 6.4.2, I guess.  Check with 'glxinfo | grep Mesa'.)
