 Update, sort of.  I tried using VLD XvMC output in MythTV again.  I was
 able to view the video, but the audio was extremely choppy, using a 720p
 file.  So then I closed out MythTV and started up Xine with:
 {{{
 xine -V xxmc 720pfile.mpg
 }}}
 And this time instead of the usual green screen, I got the last frame that
 was displayed in MythTV, just sitting there frozen like a screenshot.  It
 is reproduceable, I can do it everytime with whatever the last frame is
 shown when using MythTV will display when I playback any mpeg2 file in
 Xine using xxmc.

 Is that helpful?  Any thoughts?
