Comment (by masterclc at gmail.com):

 In trying to troubleshooting this better, I decided to see if I could
 break it somehow, to at least make sure it's using the drivers I believe
 it is. So, here's what I did:
 Uninstalled SVN 218, uninstalled DRM, removed the CVS'd DRM kernel modules
 and rebuilt the kernel ( a 2.6.17 with gentoo patchset 8 kernel) DRM/VIA
 portion and updated the modules (depmod -ae). I then used emerge (on
 Gentoo here) to install libdrm and xf86-video-via. Following that I went
 into the OpenChrome directory and did a 'make uninstall' which removed the
 /usr/lib/libviaXvMC* files as well as the xorg via driver. Then I did a
 make install from that directory.

 Hopefully you followed that, because now when I do a:
 xine -V xxmc /path/to/mpeg2 file (not even an HD one) I get the following
 output:
 {{{
 This is xine (X11 gui) - a free video player v0.99.5.
 (c) 2000-2004 The xine Team.
 You are using an XvMC driver for the wrong chip.
 Chipid is 0x3118.
 ViaXvMC: Could not allocate timestamp blit area.
 Indirect Rendering not supported! Using Direct.
 You are using an XvMC driver for the wrong chip.
 Chipid is 0x3118.
 ViaXvMC: Could not allocate timestamp blit area.
 No accelerated IMDCT transform found
 xiTK received SIGSEGV signal, RIP.
 Killed
 }}}
 So, the good news from that is that I know it's trying to use my
 libraries, or at least, that's what I get from the above message.

 Now, reverting back (make uninstall back in /usr/src/openchrome and then
 emerge xf86-video-via) I get a green screen with just the single message
 output from xine that I always get:
 {{{
 No accelerated IMDCT transform found
 }}}

 If you want logs from any of these 'steps' I can attach them, but I
 figured I'll wait for further instructions so I don't just add to the
 confusion with yet another unimportant log.

 Thanks!

 -Chad
