The bonus round: how can I adjust the dpi / get rid of the very, very 
tiny fonts?

$ cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log|grep -i dpi
(**) VIA(0): DPI set to (38, 39)

~$ cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log|grep -i display
(**) VIA(0): Display dimensions: (890, 500) mm
