I tried to use a reduced blanking mode generated by lvt, and my X server
said "monitor does not support reduced blanking." This surprised me,
as even at the most verbose logging, I see no signs that the monitor
EDID is being read. Perhaps I can ovveride it.

By fiddling with the modeline, I just mean that I adjusted the dot-clock
on my EDID-defined modeline s.t. the refresh rate is back up to 60Hz. Here
are the three Modelines, the EDID defined one, the one I'm using, and the
RB one that didn't work:

# Modeline "1920x1080" 148.50 1920 2004 2048 2200 1080 1084 1089 1125

# longer vertical front porch prevents "flashing" effect.
        Modeline "1920x1080" 149.82 1920 2004 2048 2200 1080 1084 1092 1135

# Modeline "1920x1080_60.00_rb" 138.50 1920 1968 2000 2080 1080 1083 1088 1111 +HSync RVsync

The green dots also show up progressively more often as a movie plays.
They also can show up on images. They annoy me, but I can tolerate them.
