Okay, that patch brings the normal DPI back.  Thanks for alerting.

But it is not the correct fix, because when the DisplaySize option 
is not present, the EDID-detected values are still preceded by (**) 
in the log file, as if they came from the xorg.conf file.  But they 
are probed and should therefore be preceded by (--).

Something else: when in the Section "Screen" of xorg.conf I replace 
the line

                Modes   "1024x768" "800x600"
with

                Modes   "1024x768" "1152x864" "1280x1024" "800x600"

the DPI changes from 81,81 to 101,108 (see attached reversed diff).  
Is this also an Xorg bug, or an openchrome one?
