You didn't gzip it.  That makes it big.  Too big for the mailing 
list.  The whole mail gets dropped.  I have reattached it here.

Ah.  You're using Xorg server 1.3.0.  That has some extra problems 
of its own.  Better stay with 7.2.  (But you probably can't control 
that either.)

If you don't have full control over your machine or net connection, 
you're... stuck.

Not that I know of.

Like I said, the latest version, from git that is.  But I think this 
fix is also in 6.5.3, so if you can get that, at least the window 
placement problem will be over.
