Hello all.
Several people reported that Chrome9 HC VN896/P4M900
works for them. But it does not work for me, whatever I try.
I described the problem already in July-August (see e-mail from Jul 26 2007)
In short:
I have Chrome9 HC IGP (VN896, but lspci says P4M900) and VT8237.
This is NEXOC notebook, made from Clevo M660 SE barebone notebook
The LCD monitor TFT, 15,4 inch
kernel version: 2.6.23.1
attached are
1) two Xorg.conf files and two corresponding logs
(via driver: revision 420 of experimental branch)
2) the output of lspci -vvn command
The xorg-1.conf is taken from the Brazilian guy,
for whom openchrome driver worked for Chrome 9HC.
It contains an explicit declaration of ModeLines.
The xorg-2.conf is the same, but without the declaration of ModeLines.
Xorg-1.conf gives me correct picture; with Xorg-2.conf the I see only upper
right part of the huge screen, like:
______________
| what | |
| I see | |
|________| |
| |
|______________|
Both do not work.
On Slackware 12.0 (Xorg 7.2):
if I type "startx" (from init 3), then I see the XFCE splash screen,
and then the machine hangs.
If I type "init 4", then xdm (or kdm) starts normally.
I can switch between consoles, the picture is OK,
I can give my login and password. Then, I press OK,
and after few moments machines hangs.
On Debian 4rc0 (Xorg 7.1) , the story is somewhat different:
GDM starts, picture is OK, everything is OK, I login.
And I can work for 10-15 minutes sometimes (if I open xterm only),
but sooner or later, machine hangs.
I remember that Xavier Bachelot made some patch for DDR II 667 in Aug. 2007.
Can it be because I have DDR 667 MHz (and other people 533 or some other)
that my machine hangs?
Question to people who have *working* Chrome9 HC VN896 + VT8237a :
what is the frequency tact of your RAM?
Thanks for any suggestions/help,
Andre Kusmin
