Hi again,
I set the video ram in bios to maximum, which is 256M,
Now the log reports: (--) VIA(0): videoram = 33280k
I tried different virtual size values, from 1600 1200 you suggested to 1280 1024 which I am trying to setup, but unfortunately nothing changes. When I startx kde starts up and the only 2 resolutions I can choose from are 1600x1200 (huge screen, which I can 'surf' with the mouse) and 640x480. I am at my wits end.
