There is no such thing as a normal bug. It needs to be fixed, especially 
as this one is a crasher and lots of people are affected.
openchrome with xserver 1.5 will have this bug and thus need the 
workaround until someone has enough knowledge and time to track it and 
fix it. If you know C and are willing to dive into X, then yes, you can 
help. There are a lot of bugs in openchrome bug tracker waiting for 
someone to take care of them.
