As you're from RedHat, I believe you must be using Fedora, and from the 
xorg server version, Fedora 8. There's no need for you to build any svn 
snapshot, I maintain the openchrome driver for Fedora and keep it fairly 
current. You should remove your custom build and 'yum install 
xorg-x11-drv-openchrome'.

It looks like a bug we already now about and is even filed in RHBZ : 
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=391621

I'll be trying to track down this issue with one of the openchrome's 
dev shortly.
