No, I refer to unichrome.sf.net.

VIA currently have 2 flavors for their driver :
- One with closed (binary only) parts at viaarena.com. The closed parts 
include xvmc and it needs a modified mplayer or xine-lib running as root 
to take advantage of hardware mpeg acceleration.
- A trimmed down one with only open-sourced parts, but w/o xvmc support, 
amongst other things. See linux.via.com.tw.

Indeed, it is one of the killer feature of this chipsets. Unfortunately, 
MPEG patents are a legal minefield, and it will take time for VIA to 
even release the mpeg engine docs, and even more to release code, if at 
all possible. We are working with VIA toward this goal, though. Without 
the docs, the only way forward is to reverse engineer VIA closed driver, 
like it was done for the earlier versions of the hardware mpeg engine, 
but nobody is up to that at the moment.
