 Sorry for the wait.

 I can confirm this for wmii: No crashes with xine. But this supports what
 I said before: the xine window is managed differently by the window
 manager when switching back from fullscreen (still floating, for mplayer
 it becomes one of the tiled windows (even if it wasn't before going to
 fullscreen)). So I still believe this is related to some rescaling of the
 video.

 remember to pause before changing between full screen/window, everything
 is fine!
