 Hello there,

 Just installed Kubuntu 9.10 on a CX700M2 board (via epia EX10000G) and
 hitting this bug.

 There's a kinda workaround, after the first startup icon (of a HDD)
 displays switch to VT 8 (it will display garbage) and wait about 10
 seconds till the HDD is chugging as it loads KDE, then switch back and you
 will see the rest of the KDE startup icons loaded. For me this works 30%
 of the time and means i can run without having to disable acceleration.

 Is it worth me trying the latest trunc or has there been no work on this
 yet?

 Let me know if i can help supply any debugging info.
