 I can confirm this problem on a 32 bit system.

 I'm using Archlinux as well. The problem does not seem to be related to a
 specific Openchrome svn version. The lock up happens (for me) only with
 video output "xv", when using "x11" everything is fine (except that it is
 unusably slow).
