 I found the same symptoms on [http://bugs.debian.org/562585 debian bug
 562585] and tried to chase it, and found it was in fact a bug in the
 Unichome DRI Driver of Mesa, which is reported as
 [https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26999 26999] on their
 Bugzilla. You can look at those bugs for details.
