 That option is simply selecting between hardware and software cursor
 rendering though.
 Dont know why it was working in a previous version taht way. Perhaps the
 HW cursor rendering wasn't working or something? there are a variety of
 ways to hide the cursor in X though depending on your need. you could use
 unclutter modified to your needs or write your app to hide the cursor, or
 depending on window manager use an invisible theme etc.
