 Umm, gang65, you really are going to have to specify ''exactly'' what I
 need to put in the xorg.conf for compositing (likewise 16bit depth or
 DRI), so that I can cut/paste reliably.

 Also, do you want all these changes tried individually or all together?

 Sorry if the above is obvious to you, but I'm no expert on X servers (been
 ''using'' them for 20 years - they have generally "just worked"), so I'm
 quite liable to do the wrong thing.
