 Hello, I'm using a laptop Fujitsu Siemens Amilo LA1703:

 $ lspci | grep VGA
 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: VIA Technologies, Inc.
 K8M890CE/K8N890CE [Chrome 9] (rev 01)

 And have exactly the same problem. When using an external monitor through
 the VGA output, the videos are shown as a black screen (fullscreen or
 not). Sound also works well.
