[Openchrome-users] EPIA-M720 (VX900) xorg.conf (EE) No devices detected

I renamed xorg.conf to xorg.conf.stop and rebooted. The result was visually the same, ie. it proceeds through the boot sequence, but ends up with a blank screen and a message from the monitor which says to switch to 1680*1050 @ 60hz or any other mode that it supports

The Xorg.o.log is attached.

Regarding why I had 1366x768 in my xorg.conf, that is the size of my TV on which I eventually want to use it, but you are correct, then monitor I am currently testing it on is 1680x1050.

The log still isn't very helpful to me.

It is my understanding that on my motherboard old motherboard (VIA EPIA EN12000) that XvMC provided the hardware acceleration required to watch even SD TV because the low power processor wasn't capable. Certainly I could only watch TV when XvMC was selected in MythTV setup. It is my understanding that my new motherboard (EPIA-M720) is the same, even though it has a slightly better processor. So I will need to use XvMC, or at least what the data refers to as " Integrated VIA Chrome9(tm) HD DX9 3D/2D graphics & MPEG-2, VC1 and H.264 video decoding acceleration".

The Xorg.o.log states:

[ 14.616] (WW) CHROME(0): [XvMC] XvMC is not supported on this chipset.

Which still concerns me, although I accept it doesn't explain why I can't even get a desktop.

Apart from the drm and dri errors, the only other errors in the log is:

[ 12.006] (EE) open /dev/fb0: No such file or directory

Again, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

John

(I currently have the computer connected to a computer monitor in my computer room. Once I get it working there I'll move it back out to the lounge and the TV).

Harmless.

Harmless too. And no, that's no what you are trying to use.

> The ultimate problem though is obviously all of the " (II) CHROME(0): Not using mode ..." entries, which appear to eliminate every possible mode, seemingly for a different reason each time. However, to me it doesn't give any indication of why its rejecting these mods, apparent from the errors and warning cited earlier.

Why are you trying to use 1366x768 ? The log seems to indicate you have a 1680x1050 monitor.
I would try without an xorg conf at all.
