[openchrome-users] Problem with brightness and xrandr

Hi RBZ,

You are probably correct that I broke the code without realizing it.
It is probably because I do not adjust screen brightness, generally.
I only do it from the laptop's keyboard when I need to conserve power.
I should probably add this functionality to the test checklist before a major code release.
The good (?) news is that I am now with my friend who is a better hardware tester than I am, so I will try to reproduce this problem with the hardware we have on hand.
We will probably try to reproduce this bug on HP 2133 mini-note.
This one has essentially the same chipset as Biostar P4M900-M7 FE mainboard.

> Hi, I have a Biostar P4M900-M7 FE 7.0 motherboard with a VIA P4M900 [Chrome 9 HC] chip. I use Debian 11 and I have installed the "xserver-xorg-video-openchrome 0.6.0-4" package, which is the latest version of the driver found in the Debian repositories.

The strangest thing is that if I install an old version of the driver, like "0.5.0-3", the command works perfectly and I can change the brightness without problems.

> Why does the driver only change the brightness with version 5 and not with version 6? both versions work perfectly, except that in version 6 I can't change the brightness (and no error message is shown to tell me where the problem could be). Is there any parameter that I can change in version 6 to solve it? perhaps modifying the xorg.conf file??are there other ways to change in brightness without using xrandr? Thanks in advance.
