         Yes, PDF/X-3 is a great win for color managed workflows.

         Actually, combining PDF/X documents WHILE MAINTAINING PDF/X 
compatibility is a major undertaking.  In fact, the PDF/X committee is 
STILL working on guidelines for how to correctly implement the assembly 
and/or aggregation of such documents.
