at least we have a strong interest in those ;) But, I am not sure any of 
member of the krita's team has enought knowledge in those area to mentor a 
student :(

In fact, for joining SoC you need to have an organization which is registered 
to a governement (associations, ev, fundation, even company). The best would 
be to have freedesktop to register to SoC, there weren't registered last 
year, mostly because, I don't think freedesktop is backed up by such an 
organization :( And having them throught KDE ev would drown them :(
