For hand held devices this is usually in the storage base of spot reading
devices or in the guide that is uses for strip reading if it is a strip
reading device. I know that the one that comes with the DTP20 appears to be
made of a ceramic materal and I think it is designed to last for the life of
the device. For the DTP41 series it should be replaced periodically since it
is a paper target.

When you send it back for recalibarion/recertification you will get a new
calibration card as part of that service. This service also comes with a new
warranty and at the end of the new warranty period you can purchase an
extended warranty. Also the tool crib software from X-Rite will allow you
to marry the device to a new calibration card. Calibration cards for the
DTP41 series cost $50.
