Btw. the new monitor looks somewhat better.

Good, OMCF compiles. And hpdc_util can communicate with the monitor as
root. ucal did not open a window as it did not find a tray on my desktop.
The OSD lock is nice. Preset switching works.
And I am about downloading LUTs.
By switching the color processing off the dark band deformations
dissappear, which I earlier mentioned.
I can now count all gradient steps down to zero, which is fine for 
80cd/qm.

It would be interessting if the backlight can be programmed. Then some
uneveness issues could be corrected.

The firmware is probably the one from manufacturing date - july 2008.
My observations are all still in the 8-bit domain.
