   I thought that GPLin was driving Epson printers as DeviceN devices.
   But I may not have that correct.  Alastair care to comment?

It can do either CMYK or DeviceN (well, DeviceCMYK*).  DeviceN support
is important in order to test the CMYK->DeviceN conversion.

When I say "DeviceCMYK*", I mean CMYK variants (additional light
inks).  Last I played with it, it didn't support inks with
non-traditional hue values.
