That appears to be the case.  When it matures it will be good for those with 
nvidia hardware.  Nouveau is supported by the kernel 2.6.33.  So it is getting 
closer but good 3D support is a ways off yet.

They did that over three years ago and so far we have not seen any 
improvements.  I wish this was not the case but it appears that nvidia is not 
too keen on implementing XRandR > 1.1.
