$ oyranos-monitor
works for seting up a ICC profile from EDID. It can be configured
to something else. ArgyllCMS and GCM have implemented similiar mechanisms.
The only display profile spec for Linux is the ICC Profile in X one as far
as I am aware of.
Oyranos provides a C API to abstract from ICC Profile in X. The API
contains functions to query the numer of monitors, their size and layout
and a associated profile. Thats typical stuff.
