Some remarks:
0.7 has only iconv as fixed dependency (though it can be deactivated with 
macros), libxml2 is only used by libelektratools which can be deactivated or 
separately packaged. The core only needs POSIX.

0.8 will have no dependency at all in the core and will be completely Ansi-C.
