Not just convoluted, fragile. The device ICC profile could change at any time.
So the test chart has to be created when needed, and submitted as soon as
possible, to lessen the chance that the profile will have changed. In
distinct contrast, if the test chart is marked as being always in
the device colorspace, it can be created just once, and used any time,
for any device that has the same basic type of colorspace.
