I share the overall vision.

However it your proposed technical solution is niche. Linux needs to 
support lots of device classes. A general solution like the meta tag is 
much more appropriate. E.g. the VCGT tag for monitors was already a step 
in the right direction IMO. 
To work on specialised solutions will be harder to integrate and more 
likely to get fewer support.
