Flowchart showing how they work now, and how they ought to work soon, and how they ought to work if we implement the bigger picture in a v1.0 reference implementation.

Unfortunately I'm about to become incredibly swamped for the next two months so it may go slowly with my involvement, I am a slow flowcharter.
