I'm curious about the metadata you are interested in representing.  As we in the ICC are developing completely new encoding of named color profiles that support spectral encoding in IccLabs I would like to be aware of any needs that may need to be accounted for.

Are there any projects on the way, which can import, manipulate and export CxF data in open source environments ?

CxF has been introduces by X-Rite for exchanging spectral-data with additional Metadata:

It is also on a way to become ISO 17972

I´m espcially interested on projects, which would be able to convert spectral data to color palettes for design applications and for handling spot color in graphic arts applications.
