What you can do is lower the deps in configure.in, and manually start
the daemon by hand. To actually write a scripted backend you just need
to follow helpers/README and you can run stuff by hand.

You also need PolicyKit 0.5 as there is API differences. I don't think
it will even compile against 0.4.

Is zypp python, perl, c or c++?
