Well, it sounds like rawhide is screwed and the deps are all messed up;
I don't think it's the fault of PackageKit to sort out the problems :-)
Seriously, I think the backend needs to cope if this is the case, and if
it can't just error out like it's doing. PackageKit shouldn't fix or
work around broken repos, just like rpm doesn't silently "fix" broken
rpm files - there's just too much that could go wrong.
The only way I think this makes sense is to have a "Update just this
package" button on the update detail for users that want "I only want to
try out the gimp update" although the use case for this seems slim
indeed. Yell if you want this, this would take a matter of minutes to
add.
