Had a hard time tracking this down

try this:
sudo ./yumBackend.py search-group none collections

you have change GROUP_META_PACKAGES = "meta-packages" to 
GROUP_COLLECTIONS = "collections"

search-group didn't like unknown groups very well :)
this is fixed now.
