Actually this spec draft looks rather good and i welcome and second
that effort personally. one of the things we can fix even while this
is still ongoing is the proper categorisation of applications in
desktop files according to the fdo menu spec. From the over 1500
applications i have installed an estimated 500 to 1000 still need some
love but step by step this is definitely doable and can and should be
cleaned up anyways. Great is also that this is an effort where more
distros work in concert to solve one of the biggest usability hurdles
we have today. Getting a proper software catalog together is essential
to leverage the full potential of a distribution by providing simple
means for users to get a proper overview about available applications.
