I'd also like to add here that the case for adding a feature to
PackageKit is very weak if only one backend supports it and if the
backend will be the only one supporting it for the forseeable future.
Because in that case, you will have GUIs working well only one one
distribution although they are using PackageKit for abstraction - and
that renders an abstraction layer pointless.

(Unless they do something clever and check available backend features
first, which at the moment no frontend I'm aware of does)
