I understand that (I saw the TODO later), the problem is that you use
unchecked value in malloc (and don't check result of that one either.
This can lead to incorrect value returned from one function failing a
follow up test, which I wanted to avoid.
the other option would be to just use the correct size for malloc, but
checking seemed easier.
