From brian at interlinx.bc.ca Thu Nov 14 14:42:56 2024 From: brian at interlinx.bc.ca (Brian J. Murrell) Date: Thu, 14 Nov 2024 09:42:56 -0500 Subject: No HDMI audio output Message-ID: <85d60dc8757a9df96f7b9217bea43fa72874b8fd.camel@interlinx.bc.ca> I have my (new) computer connected to an HDMI monitor that has audio output but I don't see any devices for that audio on the monitor in pavucontrol. On my old computer I did see these HDMI outputs for this monitor. Is it expected that any HDMI monitor with audio output should present HDMI outputs with Pipewire or is this conditional on certain hardware capabilities of the video hardware in the PC? If yes, how can I determine if my PC has required hardware to utilize audio on HDMI? I'm really not sure what kind of information would be helpful here but here is what lspci says about my video hardware: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v3/4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 06) Is there anything else useful I can provide to help get to the bottom of this?
