conflicts handling is broken

	I've updated the ticket.. (Who am I you ask??? Someone that just
joined the list yesterday after running into the problem, and was looking
for help).

	I made the changes to my source, but it seems to either get me
past the problem but run into another problem ... Or causes a problem
for the next item run.

	I'm running on FreeBSD 5.5 and pkg-config is out of ports tree.
