[PATCH] Bug fixes for console detection

Hey folks,

I had some issues with the commits made on April 9th and 10th that
broke plymouth on my system.  I noticed it was no longer stripping a
newline from /sys/class/tty/console/active, and this made the console
detection rather unhappy.  When I made it strip the newline, it
detected my console as a text console only, and I was surprised that
it didn't add a renderer....  Anyway, this is what I came up with.
