I don't know what the exact issue is you're referring to, but that
would definitely be a kernel bug. pm-utils should have no effect. Do
you know what kernel you're running? You can a bug at
bugzilla.kernel.org or with your distro specifying what battery
information exists before suspending and what's gone after resuming.
