patch to support querying column bboxes

On ebook readers, reading a4 pdfs with columns (like these
http://www.guardian.co.uk/g24) is awkward, but the experience can be improved
by following columns identified by poppler at higher zoom. (Adobe use a
different solution, reflowing the document). The information needed to do this
is already available in poppler, but not exposed in the API.

ipdf, the viewer on the IRex Iliad, has been patched to work this way by users
on the IRex forums, but I notice the patch hasn't appeared upstream. Since it
might be useful for other embedded viewers, here it is. Original author of this
patch is 'wpd', see forum post here:
