If I try to run pdftoppm on some pdfs, I get the error mention in the summary. 
I'll attach a pdf that demonstrates this problem (I can give more examples, if
needed.)

Here's the command I run:

pdftoppm 01.images.pdf out

The error reported above occurs when ran on gentoo.  I have tried various
version of poppler and they all have the same problem.  On windows, instead the
error is reported as: Bogus memory allocation size
