Looking at the commands executed I see:

gfx state dict: << /OPM 1 /BM /Normal /CA 1 /OP false /SMask /None /ca 1 /AIS
false /op false /Type /ExtGState /SA true >>

/BM is Blend Mode which is not implemented in the cairo backend.
