10.5 has showed up in gentoo and the bug is still present.

Here's a link to a pdf that takes a lot less time to give the error:

which might make testing/reproducing less annoying.

Oh my goodness... I just realized why you weren't able to reproduce the bug. 
That URL I gave you should have said Photos instead of Text.  That's a
completely different pdf.

Sorry about that.  Using the URL I just gave should enable you to reproduce.
